4–H club members reap a bounty of awards

Rainy River District 4–H honoured their best Friday in Stratton Friday evening.
A crowd of more than 100 gathered at the Stratton Millennium Hall for the annual 4–H Awards Banquet. The theme was Happy Birthday as 2013 marks the 100th Anniversary of 4–H in Canada.
In the Rainy River District 4–H can be traced back to the 1930s when the first Potato Club was formed by the Kiwanis Club of Fort Frances. At Friday’s banquet the Kiwanis continued their support of district 4–H activities by again sponsoring the banquet. Robert Sletmoen of the Kiwanis presented 4–H President Murray McDonald with a cheque for $500!
After a delicious dinner, the awards presentations took place. The awards presented were as follows:
4–H Leadership award
($100 plus trophy)

($100 plus trophy for beef club member who accumulates the most points in the past three years)

RR Hereford Assoc. 4–H Carcass Award
($200 plus plaque to the member with th highest grading Market Steer with Hereford Influence)

($100 plus certificate to a deserving Agriculture Member)
