Harry Bernst, 85

Harry Bernst, 85, of Rainy River, ON passed away peacefully in Rainy River Hospital on March 8, 2013 with family by his side. Harry was born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan on April 19, 1927. He moved to Rainy River in 1952 with the CNR as a conductor and worked there till he retired. Harry loved the outdoors and camping and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed a few runs to the casino now and then. Harry loved to play cards and participated in card tournaments at the Legion with his local friends in Rainy River. Harry will be missed by his daughters Christine (Brian), Rhonda (Harvey), Judy (Reg) and Debbie (Dale); nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; his extended family Gary (Glenda), Rhonda (Don), Paul (Kim), Laurie (John) and Danny (Gwen); and Harry’s brother Earl and sister Bernice. Predeceased by his wives Shirley and Alice; and one great grandson Tristen. A celebration of Harry’s life wall held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11:00 am. at the Rainy River Knox United Church in Rainy River, ON with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
