The Easter Bunny will be hopping into Rainy River a day early this week!
Yes the 7th Annual Rainy River Easter Egg Hunt is slated for this Saturday at the Rainy River Community Centre.
Kids up to the age of 13 are welcome to participate and activities get underway at 10 a.m.!
For kids in the 4 and under age group, the annual egg hunt will involve being given a piece of paper with different coloured eggs on them. They will have to find the eggs shown on the paper. However, if kids are really young they will not have to worry about the paper. They will then go to the playground at Riverview School and hunt for eggs.
This year there are 1,200 eggs up for grabs!
Kids in both the 5-8 and 9-13 age groups will continue to do their egg hunt in the basement of the Community Centre. For the second year in a row they will use team play and compete for grand prizes.
They will be divided into teams of three, given a set amount of time to find a certain colour of eggs in the dark using flashlights. If they bring back the wrong colour of eggs they will be penalized. Points will be allotted and then the winning team of three will win a grand prize.
There will also be other activities going on in and outside the Community Centre. Indoors there will be crafts, pin the tail on the bunny activities and relay type games, as well as a play area for really young kids. Outside there will be Kick the Egg and Capture the Egg. These will all take place at different times.
Kids need to preregister to be guaranteed a “Loot Bag”. After searching for the eggs all participants (preregistered) will receive a Loot Bag.
To preregister bring $3 to the Riverview School or the Best Start Hub by Thursday evening (closing time at each place).
