Close call at Riverview Manor

On Wednesday April 10 2013 about 4:45 p.m. the Rainy River Volunteer Fire dept. was called out to Riverview Manor.
A resident was cooking food on the stove in the kitchen and she stepped out of her apartment for a few minutes.
Shortly after, the smoke detector went off in her apartment.
The frying pan was removed from the stove and placed in a snowbank outside her appartment.
There was light smoke in the halls ways and a strong smell. The firemen placed two large fans and move fresh air in to the hall ways and apartments. 20 minutes later, the smell is gone and the fire was out.
The public is reminded to never leave their stove unattended while cooking. A short period of time can see things get out of control very quickly.
No one was hurt and there was no structural damage tot he building.
