Police investigating three suspicious fires in area

Officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating three structure fires that have occurred within the last month. Property was damaged but there were no injuries as a result of the fires.
On April 18, 2013 OPP and Chapple Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Tait Road in Chapple Township. The structure fire consumed a vacant residence located on agricultural land. The structure was a 20 x 20 foot vacant residence that had been converted into a hunt camp. The camp had not been used in quite some time.
On April 18, 2013 OPP officers responded to a fire at the Pineview Mennonite Church on Hele Road in Chapple Township. The fire completely destroyed the building.
On April 25, 2013 OPP responded to a unoccupied residence on Marr Road in Morley Township when someone checking on the property observed burn marks on an exterior wall of the building. The burn marks are likely to have occurred between April 14th and 25th.
OPP are continuing to investigate all three incidents and are asking the public to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) if anyone has information pertaining to these investigations. The Fort Frances Crime Unit, OPP Scenes of Crimes officers are continuing to work with the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office.
