Eleanor "Tiny" Sonstegard, 77

Eleanor “Tiny” Sonstegard of Baudette, MN passed away on April 22, 2013 at the LakeWood Health Center at the age of 77.
Eleanor was born August 23, 1935 in Rainy River, Ontario, the youngest of 11 children, to George and Mary Jane (Morrison) Godin. Eleanor grew up and attended school in Rainy River. As a young woman, she worked at resorts in the Lake of the Woods, Ontario area.
She married John Sonstegard on December 16, 1963, in Baudette, MN. In the early years of their marriage, John served in the military. During those years, they were stationed in California and Mississippi. They then returned to Baudette to raise their two children. She was a housewife for many years before beginning work at the nursing home in the mid 70’s. She worked for both the nursing home and hospital in both the kitchen and in housekeeping for many years, until her retirement in August 2000.
Tiny enjoyed the outdoors, music, and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She loved playing bingo and going to casinos. She had many friends, and will be missed by all.
She is survived by her daughter Grace Martin of Baudette; son John “Snoop” (Robyn) Sonstegard; brother Almer Godin; sisters Merle Lind and Irene Connon; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Jane Godin; brothers, George, Emil, Wilfred, and Louis Godin; and sisters Pearl Connon, Yvonne Almers and Mathilda Clark.
A memorial service for Tiny was held at 11 am, Monday April 29th at Wabanica Lutheran Church in Baudette, MN.
