Rainy River, get ready to Celebrate, Remember & Fight Back Friday, June 21! That is when Relay for Life will be held in Rainy River this year!
This year the Canadian Cancer Society is marking its 75th Anniversary. By joining us during this special year, you will help make Relay For Life the most successful ever. In 2012:
Relay For Life took place in 496 communities across Canada, raising $51 million.
Nearly 200,000 Canadians participated.
More than 37,000 celebrated survival at Relay
32,000 volunteers made it happen!
Last year, Relay for Life in Rainy River rose over $47,000, and since the first Relay in Rainy River was held in 2010 we have contributed over $142,000 to the Canadian Cancer Society! Looking at these statistics, it’s easy to see that Rainy River hosts a small, but mighty event! Without the support of an amazing community (RR and surrounding areas) this incredible event wouldn’t be possible! The committee would like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to all of our past and present sponsors, captains, team members and volunteers from across the Rainy River District!! Your support and dedication is the heart of the event.
We currently have 10 teams registered, but the Canadian Cancer Society has high expectations for our event. We would love to exceed our target of 15 teams, so please don’t hesitate and register as soon as possible!
This year’s Relay theme is “Decades.” Teams are encouraged to decorate campsites and design costumes with their decade of choice (past, present or future) in mind. Relay has a festival-like atmosphere that your family, friends and co-workers can enjoy regardless of age or fitness level. Relay participants make a commitment to raise at least $100 and are supported with the tools to reach their goals. Please visit our website HYPERLINK “http://www.relayforlife.ca/rainyriver” www.relayforlife.ca/rainyriver to register your team, pledge a participant, make a donation or purchase a luminary.
For more information on registering your team please contact Georgia Kreger at 488-5778. If you are interested in working on the committee, please contact Melissa Jenson at 852-4576. Help us work toward a future where no Canadian fears cancer.
