Scholarships for summer hockey school announced
News Release
LoW YHA
The Lake of the Woods Youth Hockey Association held a regular meeting on April 16. At the meeting members of the association decided to increase their efforts to encourage and increase participation of our hockey players to attend the local hockey school.
Lake of the Woods Hockey School was created to provide a high quality experience for a reasonable cost for the players in our own area. Emphasizing skating skills as well as shooting, passing, stick handling, and FUN, it has consistently received praise for its personal and professional attention to every player. Recognizing the importance of skill development needed for our area’s players, the Youth Hockey Board in conjunction with the Rainy River Minor Hockey Board, have generously donated scholarships for a week of hockey school for the past several years. This year’s winners are:
-Jace Block
-Brayden Holmes
-Gracie Johnson
-Randy Wood
In addition to the scholarships, a larger commitment was made by the Youth Board. Each player that was registered with Lake of the Woods Youth Hockey during the 2012-2013 season will be given a certificate for $25 off the cost of Lake of the Woods Hockey School. This $25 discount is intended to get everyone in the program skating during the summer. Lake of the Woods Hockey School will start on June 17 and end on June 28. The certificates will be available through an electronic mailing.
