Proud of my community

Letter to the Editor,
On May 11, the Bergland Community Hall was filled to capacity for a free-will benefit supper for a local couple who lost all but the clothes on their backs to a fire.
All of the food was donated by individuals, businesses , local people and all of it cooked and prepared by the good ladies of the area. Volunteerism is alive and well in this area when you see everyone pitching to get everything set up,
Tables set, food served and then the big clean up. The tremendous amount of work in the planning, organizing and coordinating of such a benefit event is to be recognized and appreciated.
There was also a silent auction for which people again generously donated. The fun was in the bidding.
The amount of money raised for that couple that evening was quite remarkable for such small area. People’s generosity shines through once again!
