“The Gentle Bear Man of Emo,” the feature-length documentary on Mike and Betty Scheibler and the Isaiah Wildlife sanctuary, will be screened on Friday, May 31 at Rainy River High School.
The movie will start at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Mike Scheibler said he gave a free copy of the movie to the libraries in Fort Frances and Emo, but many people still haven’t seen the film and want to do so.
He added one of the reasons is because the DVDs are always sold out and back-ordered on the Internet, but the good news is copies of the DVD will be available for sale at the screening. There also will be a door prize draw for a copy of the DVD.
“It will be a fun night,” said Scheibler, adding he will be open to taking questions from the audience.
Scheibler noted it also will be an emotional evening for him, as he will be reunited with retired RRHS teacher, Isaac Dick, who will be Scheibler’s guest of honour.
“I am hoping to keep it together,” he admitted. “To show up there and wander through those halls again—to see my room, to see my teacher. He literally saved my life the first couple months I was at that school.”
