RRHS holds wake-a-thon

By Jessica Haw
RRHS student

On April 19th, 2012 Rainy River High School students participated in the annual Wake-A-Thon. Because of the generosity of the community students raised $3,244.45. This money has been donated to the Adopt a Village program which is a part of Free the Children Foundation. Free the Children is a charity that focuses on children helping under privileged children. Our school chose to help fund this organization because 96 percent of every dollar donated goes directly to the cause. There are five core pillars to the Adopt a Village campaign with the goal of ending poverty: Education; Water and Sanitation; Health; Alternative Income and Livelihood; and Agriculture and Food Security. Over the last few years RRHS has been donating to help build schools and the less fortunate in Sierra Leone. We will continue to do so. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who made a contribution to this cause, along with our chaperones who volunteered their time, and the After School Program for lending us equipment to keep students entertained for the night. We not have done it without you!
