Lake of the Woods levels on the rise due to rain

The Lake of the Woods water level is currently 323.01 m (1059.7 ft) and has risen 22 cm (9 in) over the past week. The lake is expected to rise 15-20 cm (6 to 8 in) over the next week.
Heavy rainfall between May 19th and 21st throughout much of the Lake of the Woods drainage basin has caused the rate of inflow to Lake of the Woods to rise rapidly. Flow is entering the lake at a 1-in-10 year high rate for May. With additional rainfall in the forecast, inflow could increase over the coming days.
In response, the Lake of the Woods Control Board is directing a series of outflow increases from Lake of the Woods over the next week. Lake of the Woods outflow into the Winnipeg River will be increased as follows:
• 500 m³/s to 550 m³/s on May 27th
• 550 m³/s to 600 m³/s on May 28th
• 600 m³/s to 725 m³/s on May 30th
The Winnipeg River level immediately below Norman Dam has risen about 32 cm (13 in) over the past week, and will rise a further 65 cm (25 in) following the outflow changes scheduled for this week. Winnipeg River levels at Minaki will begin to rise slightly following the flow increase on May 30th.
Additional outflow increases are likely the week of June 2nd, resulting in further rise in Winnipeg River levels.
Water levels along the Winnipeg River in Manitoba will also rise with the additional outflow. At Nutimik, levels may increase 60-90 cm (2-3 ft) or more over the next few weeks.
