About 90 people gathered in the Rainy River High School gym last Wednesday to honour the schools best and brightest!
The annual Academic and Athletic Awards banquet featured awards for excellence in both school work and sporting events.
The evening began with the Principal’s Leadership Award. Principal Jim Chorney outlined the importance of the award. “It was established in 1999 to recognize how integral student leadership is to developing strong and caring students.” He presented the award to Jessica Haw nothing that she has been a student leader for three years. “She organized our first ever We Day, pink shirt and pink bandanna days, worked on the anti-smoking campaign and is the current Student Council President.”
Following receiving her award she gave a speech outlining all the things student council does and how the experiences help shape students as they grow up.
