Riverview graduates 16 from grade eight

It was a special night for 16 grade 8 students and their families and friends! It was grade 8 graduation at Riverview School this past Friday evening.
The class of 2013’s teacher, Dane Dalseg, was also Master of Ceremonies. He welcomed the grads and the packed house to the ceremonies. He encouraged the grads to listen to their parents. “While you might not always agree with what they tell you, they will not steer you wrong!”
He commented that he feels they are ready for high school, having made it through elementary school. “This is a class full of talent and skills. Use those qualities to overcome obstacles you will face in high school.”
Co-valedictorians Madison Brown and Kevin Cunningham then reflected on their years together in grade school. They remembered the fun times and offered best wishes for the future.
Principal Lucinda Meyers also offered her words of encouragement and congratulations to the class before presenting diplomas and several awards.
Receiving diplomas were: Madison Brown, Asher Chorney, Destiny Copenace, Kevin Cunningham, Chase Halvorsen, Jessica Hartnell, Stephen Hartnell, Dakota Kreger, Victoria Lindal, Kira Olson, Chandler Pearson, Bethany Sinninghe, Chelsea Stamler, Christopher Stone, Abigail Tolen and Patrick Vogan.
Awards
Academic Award for averaging over 80%: Asher Chorney and Bethany Sinninghe.
Principal’s Leadership Award: Abi Tolen.
Athletic Award: Asher Chorney and Bethany Sinninghe.
Delaney Byrnes Kindness and Caring Award: Abbey Tolen.
