This Saturday and Sunday fastball fans will be treated some high calibre action at the Rainy River Ball Diamonds!
The Rainy River Royals will be again hosting their Labour Day Classic ball tournament! Royals manager Mat Ashworth said they still have room for teams and are hoping for a solid eight for sure. “Usually eight is what we run but that number is not set in stone,” said Ashworth.
Games will begin Saturday morning and run all day. The Rainy River Recreation Centre will be open and offering a canteen and beer gardens both days!
If time allows there might be a home run derby, but Ashworth said if they get eight or more teams they likely won’t have time for it.
Saturday evening there is also a $1,000 dance at the RR Legion. Tickets are available from any member of the Royals. Last person in the pot at the end of the dance will win $1,000!
Games continue Sunday morning and the finals are tentatively planned for 5 p.m. Sunday. The public is invited to come out and cheer for their favourite team and enjoy themselves.
