Journey of a lifetime!

Can you imagine building a homemade sailboat and then traveling in it down the Mississippi and across the Gulf of Mexico to Belize?
Well that is exactly what my future Mother and Step-father inlaw are doing.
Having completed the boat this summer, the next step is to get the 46 foot long sailboat into the water.
They returned from their retirement home in Belize, South America, to Bemidji, MN this spring. They worked feverishly all summer completing the boat they started more than half a decade ago.
On Sunday they trailered the boat to the Mississipi south of Minneapolis. Yesterday it was craned into the water... after some work there they will begin their journey down the Mississippi. They plan to wait out hurricane season at the south end of the river before crossing the gulf and hopefully reaching Belize by Christmas.
It was hard to see them go, but at the same time it is an exciting adventure that we can not rob them of! In their late 60s and early 70s... this is a journey of a lifetime!
Their progress can be followed via a blog on the internet... if you are interested check out
Good luck Mom and Jim! Can't wait to hear all about your journey!

–Until then,
