OPP investigate death at Emo Speedway

On Saturday September 7, 2013 at approximately 8:00 pm, officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the Emo Speedway in Emo, Ontario to assist Rainy River District Emergency Medical Services (EMS) after a driver operating a stock car had left the travelled portion of the race track during a race and was found unresponsive inside his vehicle.
EMS removed the driver from his race car and began resuscitation efforts with negative results. The patient was confirmed deceased at the scene. Police conducted an investigation into the incident and a member of the Regional Coroner’s office attended. This incident is considered a sudden death and not a traffic collision.
The deceased is identified as William G. REIMER, age 67 years of Vermillian Bay, ON. A post mortem has been scheduled for September 9, 2013 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
