RRHS to host NORWOSSAs!

It has been a great start to the sports season at Rainy River High School!
Both girls basketball teams are flying high as they are poised to win NORWOSSAs and perhaps go even farther!
Last week the senior girls Owls clinched two things for the school. They guaranteed themselves a playoff spot and being undefeated with only one game left, they secured hosting the NORWOSSA championships.
The junior girls Owls are also undefeated and ranked first in NORWOSSA. So it is definitely an exciting time at the school!
The last game for the junior girls is Oct. 29th when the Ignace Falcons visit RRHS.
The final game for the senior girls is Oct. 30th when Pelican Falls visits RRHS.
Dates for the NORWOSSA playoffs and championships are Nov. 6th and 7th at RRHS. Being that both Owls teams are ranked #1, they will get a bye into the finals and only play the second day.
If the seniors win they will also get to host the next round, NWOSSAs on Nov. 14th and 15th. If they win there they will advance to the All Ontarios (OFSSAs). That means the team will have to raise money to make the trip to Southern Ontario. Juniors can advance as far as NWOSSAs.
With that in mind and the strength of the teams, Coach Rebecca Tolen said, “We would like to invite the community to a fundraising dinner that will also be held on the 14th. It will be a freewill dinner with a silent auction table. Donations are welcome and appreciated. All proceeds will go to the OFSSA fund.”
They are also currently running a 50/50 draw for the same cause.
The public is welcome to come out and cheer for all the Owls teams on the 29th and 30th and at the NORWOSSA playoffs and beyond!
