Olga Linnea Viktoria Johnsrud, 94

It is with great sadness that the family of Linnea Johnsrud, age 94 years, announces her peaceful passing on Thursday, October 17, 2013.
Linnea was born on March 12, 1919, at the home of her grandparents in McCrosson Twp., to Isador & Annie (Halverson) Larson. Linnea often reminisced about growing up in the Bergland area.
One of the families that she worked for was the Carl & Anna Dalberg Family; she did household chores and helped with the cooking on their farm north of Stratton. It was here that she met Thomas Johnsrud, a nephew of Anna Dalberg that had come from Norway to work for them. They were united in marriage on May 3, 1939 at the Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Stratton, Ontario.
Together they bought a farm of their own and had two sons, Arne & Dale. When the boys were getting to be school age they sold and bought another farm closer to town and the school. Linnea, Tom and the boys also lived down on the river for a short time before returning to the farm. When it was time to sell the farm they bought the Doc Broughton place in town. A few years after Linnea was widowed she decided a smaller place was what she’d like and traded homes with Dale & Marg; not moving far as the two places were right next door to one another. From her trailer, she moved to Stratton’s Senior Housing, Morley Meadows, and had many great years there. Just recently Linnea made Rainy Crest, home for the aged, her home. During her short stay there she loved her new home and the staff that cared for her.
Her many pastimes included cooking, baking, reading, knitting, watching curling, playing games & cards and spending time visiting with family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory is her son Dale (Marg) of Bergland, daughter-in-law Joan of Lorette, MB; grandchildren Cindy (Jim) Miller of Morson, Tim (Erin) of Winnipeg, JoAnne Nygard (Murray Brown) of Thunder Bay, Glen of Winnipeg and Dan of Lorette; great grandchildren Kyle (Alyssa) Miller, Chelsea Miller, Dylan (Katelyn Bonhomme) McDonald, Alyssa Silvaggio and Baby Johnsrud due in November whom she was so excited to meet; great great grandson, Ryder Miller; sisters Lillian Brown of BC, Edna (Graham) Calvert of Eagle River, Helen Ming, Judy Coates of Dryden; brother Jerry (Joanne) Larson of Red Rock; sister-in-law Audrey Larson of Lac Lu. Linnea will also be missed by numerous cousins, nephews and nieces in Canada, USA and Sweden.
Linnea is predeceased by her parents, Isador & Annie Larson; husband Tom; son Arne; infant grandson Lorry; brothers Roy (Marge), Ernie, Lorne; sisters Ruby (Gunnar) Anderson; brothers-in-law Cliff Brown, George Ming, Albert Coates.
A celebration of Linnea’s life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Bergland, Ontario with Lay Pastor Carolyn Kreger officiating. Internment followed in Bergland Cemetery.
Honourary pallbearers will be Linnea’s grandchildren.
