Open water lifted my spirits!

Thursday I saw a sure sign of Spring when I made deliveries in Emo. The Rainy River was wide open as far as the eye could see in either direction!
Now many years the river in Emo does not freeze over completely due to the fast moving current there. However, this past deep-freeze of a winter has seen it frozen almost all winter long!
The most common date for the Rainy River to open in front of the Town of Rainy River is around today. So when I kept looking at Emo over the past couple of weeks for a sign that it would open and saw no signs of that happening... I was very sad.
Spring for me is one of the best seasons! After a long cold winter the warmer temperatures and the rebirth of so much life, is always a spirit lifter!
The winter blahs were reinforced last week when we received 14 inches of new snow last Monday. But then came Thursday! I saw the light! It was so uplifting to see open water again!
Then the weekend came and we had beautiful, mild melting days! I think we have finally put winter behind us!
And that feeling of joy was contagious... everyone seemed to have a spring in their step and a smille about the weather!
Now we just wait for that open water to make its way down to the Town of Rainy River and eventually out to Lake of the Woods!
