Marlene Gaudry, 49

Marlene (Eiswirth) Gaudry was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on February 27th, 1965, the youngest of four children. She attended Miller High School and after graduating went to SIAST for Graphic Arts Production. After four years together, she married Duane Gaudry in Estevan, Saskatchewan on July 19th, 1986. They knew they were kindred spirits and were destined to spend their lives together.
She started her career at Quick Print in Estevan and not long after moved to the graphics department at The Estevan Mercury. Over the years Marlene, worked her way up from manager of the graphics department to general manager of both the Mercury and Estevan Web Printing. Always wanting to do her best, she chose to leave the Mercury and focus all of her attention on the printing side of things. Under Marlene’s direction, Estevan Web Printing expanded to a ten-tower press, employing over sixty people. They continue to print the prairie edition of The Globe and Mail, as well as the Estevan Mercury, Lifestyles, and 43 other weekly newspapers from southeast Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
After six years of marriage, Duane and Marlene were blessed with a daughter, Zoe Nicole, on November 7th, 1992. She was incredibly supportive of all of Zoe’s activities, from volunteering as a Girl Guide leader to sewing costumes for the production of Hairspray in 2011. In the fall of 2012 she even managed to support her when she left to study abroad in England.
On Easter Sunday in 2013, Marlene was diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer. No matter how devastating the news, she always accepted it with grace and dignity. She battled the disease for nearly two years, enduring three major surgeries and eleven rounds of chemo. During that time she was also fighting for others, serving as the honorary survivor at the Estevan Relay for Life and participating in the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope, where “Team Crazy Cat Lady” raised $9,685 for ovarian cancer research, awareness, and support. On the morning of December 21st, 2014, Marlene ended her battle with cancer and passed away peacefully with her husband and daughter by her side.
Marlene was predeceased by her father Alois Eiswirth, father-in-law Myland Gaudry, and beloved aunt Roberta Grimson.
