Harry Edwin Tofte, 93
Sadly the family announces the sudden passing of Ed Tofte, 93, of Rainy River, ON at his residence on August 5, 2015.
Ed was born on August 6, 1921 in Bergland, ON to Harry and Judith Tofte. He grew up on the Tofte family farm in Bergland along with his brothers John and Robert. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942-1945. He was united in marriage to Vivienne Mann on June 28, 1946.
He started his mining career at the Caland mine in Atikokan, ON and from there he worked at various mine locations, including mines in Allen, SK; Fernie, BC and Kelowna, BC where he remained and retired at the age of 65.
After the passing of his wife Vivienne in 1999, Ed relocated to Rainy River, ON in 2001 where he remained till his passing. Ed loved to travel and had a great fondness for anything mechanical. He loved to sing and dance.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Judy and husband Val Hunter of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, his brother John (Davie) of Langley, BC and Robert of Bergland, ON. He is also survived by his nephew Dan (Pam) Tofte and numerous cousins.
Ed was predeceased by his parents Harry and Judith and his wife Vivienne.
As per Ed’s wishes an intimate family interment will take place in Bergland Cemetery, Bergland, ON at a later date.
