Thanks to Sandy Nielson for leading us in the rosary at the prayer service and to the Catholic Women's League Honour Guard and providing and serving the lunch. To Jason Lilley and staff from Northridge Funeral Home we thank your support and compassion during our time of need.
Mom passed away peacefully on Sunday July 26, 2105 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on July 13, 1934 in Rainy River, Ontario to Marcien and Thérese (Hébert) Sanche. Her work ethic and love of family was fostered on the farm with Grandma and Grandpa Sanche and her siblings. The family later moved to Pinewood where she met and married Alphonse Langlais on August 13, 1953. They eventually took over the Langlais homestead in Pinewood, where they raised their family of 11 children.
Annette was foremost a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Her family was very important to her and she cherished her time with them. She instilled in us the importance of family, the love of God and faith. Mom loved her gardens and her green thumb always led to a plentiful harvest that she shared with family and friends as preserves or coupled with her fabulous baking during a sit-down meal at the farm. Her flower gardens are a sanctuary for birds and wonderful conversations.
Annette was a hard-working woman, caring for those around her through volunteer work at the church and Rainy River Food Bank, at community functions such as bingos and Pinewood Sports Days. She supported those in need around her by getting grocieries, helping with household duties or just visiting. She worked beside Alphonse and the kids on the farm haying and taking care of the livestock. She also drove school bus for many years and worked as a Red Cross Homemaker.
Annette is survived by 9 children, and dearly loved her 37 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Cecile Anderson, Helene (John) Prystupa, Rose Oke, Louis (Pam) Sanche, Bernadette (Danny) Danco, as well as sisters-in-law Lorette Sanche, Betty (Dennis) Wensley and Joanne Langlais.
Annette was predeceased by her husband Alphonse, daughter Lise, son René, brother Jules and sister Margaret as well as her parents and other family members.
Vigil prayers were held on Friday July 31, 2015 at Our Lady of the Way Catholic Church followed by a funeral mass Saturday August 1, 2015 followed by interment in Our Lady of the Way Catholic Cemetary in Pinewood.
We thank everyone who came from near and far to help us celebrate Mom's life. She will be remembered for her love, grace, patience and kindness.
