Nora (Peggy) Acree
Our dear Aunt Peggy passed away peacefully on September 18, 2005 in her beloved Ireland.
Her brother John and his family were by her side during her last days. She was buried in Tralee, Co. Kerry, on a lovely spot over looking the sea.
Nora, Peggy as we knew her, came to Canada as a war bride in 1946. She was married to our late Uncle Paul Acree at Stratford England, October 1943 and together they built their home on River Road where they lived their entire married life. A tragic fire destroyed her home in 2001 and she subsequently moved into Heritage House where she resided until her passing.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband Paul in 1991. She was also predeceased by many members of her family in Ireland as well as Paul’s brother Jack and sister Charlotte.
Surviving are Jack’s children Wayne, Perry, George and Paul Acree, Nancy Russell, Kathie Bradfield and Julie Roy. Our brother Charles also predeceased her. Charlotte's children Ruth Hartnell and Courtney and Clifford Bingleman also survive, along with our spouses and children.
Peggy was a dedicated nurse all her working life. She helped heal the sick and eased their suffering with great compassion. One of her greatest joys was helping to bring new baby’s into the world. She was very fond of one in particular - Lulu Ricci.
After retirement she and Paul built a home in Ireland where they spent six months each year. A practice she continued until her death.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
A memorial gathering is planned at the Legion hall on November 13, 2005 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. All her friends are invited to come and share their memories over a cup of tea.
