Roland Ernest Joseph Larocque, 75
Sadly the family announces the sudden passing of Roland Ernest Joseph Larocque 75, of Emo, ON at his residence on Friday December 4, 2015.
Roland was born in Rainy River, on February 8, 1940 to Ernest and Jean (Legros) Larocque. He was united in marriage to Beulah McNally on June 13 1963.
Roland worked in Thompson, MB for 3 years before moving to Atikokan with his wife where he raised his 3 children. Roland worked at Caland Mine until the mid 1970’s. After that he worked at Proboard up until his retirement in 2004. During his time in Atikokan he was a volunteer firefighter for 22 years. After his retirement he moved to Emo where he had built his forever home. Roland’s high light of his life was his grandchildren. Whenever he was around them you would find him on the floor playing with them. His favourite pastime was fishing, playing cards and visiting with family.
Dad was a hero to many but there was one moment that he made us very proud. He risked his life when he ran to the scene of an accident and pulled a young man out of an accident.
Roland will be sadly missed by his wife Beulah, his children Rolly (Magda), Cory (Shona), Sandra (Bert), his grandchildren Kayla (Josh), Charlie, Hayden (Tiffany), Joseph, Spencer, Keiran, Fiona and Great Grandson Henry.
Roland is also survived by his siblings Fernande, Aline, Lorraine (Rosaire), Robert (Darlene), Lina (Lawrence), Yolande (Albert), Noel (Elaine) Angele, and brother in laws Jimmy, Lazare, Alex along with numerous sisters and brothers in laws, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Jean Larocque, his daughter June Marie, siblings Florise (Felix), Estelle (Alan), Rhea, Jeanine, Claire, Theresa (Harold) and his in laws Charlie and Mabel McNally.
