Lots left Tickets to see NHL game need to sell

The puck may drop Wednesday, but if ticket sales do not pick up the NHL oldtimers game may end up costing everyone dearly.
The Rainy River Recreation Board and RR Chamber of Commerce teamed up to bring the NHL oldtimers to town this Wednesday evening in a game against a Local All Star team. However, ticket sales have been sluggish and organizers are getting frustrated.
“If they do not pick up we will lose thousands of dollars,” said Rec. Director Monique Gall. If that happens, work on the new fitness room at the RR Community Centre may have to be delayed while the organization absorbs the loss.
However, Gall is hopeful that people will come out and buy tickets today and tomorrow for the event. The evening starts with a dinner with the players, which are expected to include Dale Hawerchuk, Thomas Steen, Bob Bourne, Dave Semenko, Henry Boucha, Brian Trottier, Morris Lukowich and Glen Anderson which will be followed by the game at 7 p.m. After the game there will be a mix and mingle/autograph session upstairs in the community centre.
Tickets for the dinner are no longer available. About 100 are expected for the dinner. However, only about a quarter of the tickets for the game and mix and mingle are sold. Gall said people can get them at a cost of $25 each by calling the Rec. Centre at 852-4446 or at the Post Office. They will also be available at the door Wednesday evening.
The RR All Stars are Coaches Glen Armstrong and Wes Blight. Players are Danny Armstrong, Brian Baron, Jim Chorney, Mark Clifford, Guy Crackel, Dennis Ewald, Sean Gaudry, Terry Gill, Mickey Gustafson, Ted Heyens, Alex Matthew, Stewart McNally, Scott Mosbeck, Vaughn Murray, Roy Tom, Justin Wagner and Kirk Wood
In addition to the game there will be the opportunity to win jerseys autographed and sticks autographed by some of the stars.
Gall said the event should be really fun and hopes that the community comes out and supports it. She said that weeks of planning and many many hours by organizers have gone into bringing this first class event to the community.
