Snowmobile club gearing up for busy winter
Diane Brandt
Wildlands Snowdusters
A meeting was held November 3rd to decide the fate of the club. It was to be a do or die meeting. ‘A few more people than usual attended the meeting which was great.
After a good debate on the pros & cons nobody had the heart to say “let’s shut it down”. The dedicated people present all agreed that it would be a shame to give up and decided that we must keep plugging along as best we could. Even if only 23 trial passes and 40 weekend passes were sold last year, it still seemed worthwhile to keep at it.
Emo and Fort Frances clubs have amalgamated. Trails to Emo, Fort, Nestor etc. will be open and groomed. However, to make all this happen, good willing help will be needed. The trail designations have also changed and new maps are coming out.
It was also brought to everyones attention that if it were to close down, it would never be revived again. It would have meant pulling all the signs off all the trails which is quite a task in itself, as we have 520 kms of trails and no one wants to see the trails that we do have go back to the wild.
So, all you riders out there, rejoice. We will still have groomed trails this year. The trail pass fees remain the same: $180.00 and $230 after December 1st.
The next club meeting will be November 24th at 7 pm. at the CN Hotel. Everyone welcome.
