RR Public Library is 60!

Editor's Note: Here is some history of the Rainy River Public Library as gathered by Librarian/CEO Michael Dawber. There will be a special open house commemorating its 60th anniversary this Saturday at the Library. All are welcome! Grand Opening “Library Opening Draws Small Crowd” – Rainy River Record, June 7, 1956 A disappointingly small crowd of 38 people attended the opening of Rainy River’s public library last Tuesday evening at the Community Centre. Arrangements had been made for much larger participation, however the program was carried out successfully. A. Warnuk, chairman of the Recreation Committee, introduced the members of the Library Board, who had worked many hours in the past few weeks in preparation for the opening. On the board are: Mrs. M. Mealey, chairman; Mrs. R. Michie, secretary; Mrs. M. Clearwater, Mrs. M. Flamand, Rev. L. Fryer and Dr. G. Fraser.
