Be sure to have those Christmas lights on this week

Absolutely spectacular!

That is the best way to describe the efforts of so many homes in and around Rainy River this holiday season.

So many people took advantage of the exceptionally mild fall we have had and decorated their homes to the “nines!”

I decided to do a preliminary drive around town after the Christmas parade on Friday and boy was there a lot of homes lit up brilliantly.

A few are worth mentioning as must see displays. The Jasper family on River Ave. East is really nice.

Ralph and Debbie Armstrong on Second Street have yet another great display; living up to and surpassing previous years’ efforts.

North of the tracks John Thompson’s home on Second Ave. looks good again this year as does Mike Meuniers on Government Road and The Mintenkos on Little St.

In the west end of town Susan Carpenter’s house features a unique reindeer and santa.

There is also a house well lit across the tracks north of customs, but I was not sure whose it was from the bridge.

The old hospital, now Crystal Lindal’s on River Ave. W. is well lit.

There are many other places that are well worth seeing, including my own.

I am planning to venture out either Wednesday or Thursday evening of this week around 6 or 7 p.m. to take photos of displays for our annual parade of lights in the Christmas Edition. So be sure and have your’s lit up this week.

–Until then,

Ken

P.S. I heard that Santa’s Village in Arbor Vitae is visible from the International Space Station and the astronauts give it a thumbs up!
