Esmeralda Larson

It is with great sadness that the family of Esmeralda Marequita Larson announce her passing December 24, 2001 at LaVerendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario.
Esmeralda was born September 17, 1911 in Salol, Minnesota, USA. She came to Tovell, Ontario with her parents Henry and Elizabeth Lundquist in 1923. She was the eldest of eight children all of whom have predeceased her.
Esmeralda was united in marriage to Einar Larson on June 28, 1928 who predeceased her September 17, 1978. They had eight children, two of whom predeceased her, Hulda (Claude) Thornhill of Thunder Bay and Grace (Bill) Kozak of Kenora.
Esmeralda is survived by four sons; Alfred (Ruby) of Lac Du Bonnet, MB, Bud (Mabel, deceased ) of Tovell, ON, Wallace (Glenis) of Vancouver, BC, Wayne (Michelle) of Enderby, BC, and two daughters, Clarice (Stan, deceased) Gustafson of Red Deer, AB and Linda (Ray) Jewell of Devlin, ON.
Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Esmeralda worked in tourist camps as a cook for 20 years. She was an active member in Trinity Lutheran Church, Lake of the Woods Women’s Institute and Seniors Citizen’s Club. She enjoyed working on her loom, weaving rugs and teaching quilting and crafts.She also taught 4-H in her younger years.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, December 29, 2001 at the Bergland Hall at 2:00 p.m Pastor Robert Ek officiated with interment at the Bergland Cemetery.
