Frances Cecilia Bourre, 89

In loving memory of Frances Bourre who passed away peacefully at Rainycrest Home for the Aged in Fort Frances, Ontario on Wednesday, July 26, 2006. She was born on July 29, 1916 to Joseph Henry and Cecilia Ann (Hawtin) Lambert in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Her father died when she was 4 years of age and at the age of 7 she moved to Rainy River with her mother and step father William Evans. She received her elementary and high school education at Alexandra Public School in Rainy River, Ontario. She worked as a clerk in various stores in Rainy River for 29 years, notably Stedmans, Don’s Red and White and Aikenhead’s.
Frances was a lifelong member of St. James Anglican Church and very active in the Eastern Circle and W.A. She belonged to the Miriam Rebekah Lodge and held offices including Noble Grand.
She was a storybook grandmother, and delighted in the time she spent indulging her grandchildren. She spent many hours sewing, knitting and painting ceramics. Her family has many mementoes of her works of art. Frances was an exceptional cook with countless holiday meals her specialty. She always had a freezer full of baked goods and sweets.
In fair weather, Frances and Ernie were especially fond of their yard and spent endless hours in the garden. Over the years they created a show place, earning local horticultural awards. Holidays, especially Christmas, were always favourite times of the year when the family gathered.
Frances was predeceased in 1999 by her husband Ernie whom she married on July 3, 1937, an infant granddaughter Caren Sletmoen and her brothers George and Fred Lambert.
She is survived by her daughter Linda (Robert) Sletmoen of Fort Frances, Ontario; and two sons Arthur (Pat) Bourre and Robert (Sandra) Bourre of Dryden, Ontario; seven grandchildren: Anne (Jeff) Graham, Ryan (Joanna) Sletmoen; Terril Chessell, Gus Bourre; Tiffany, Farrah (Chris) and Lindsay Bourre; two great grandchildren; Caryn and Ian Graham. She is also survived by her sisters Marguerite Wrolstad of Dryden, Ontario and Eva (Howie) Costello of Fort France’s Ontario.
Funeral services were held in St. James Anglican Church, Friday July 28, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Wayne McIntosh officiating. Interment was in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Glen, Gary and Bill Wrolstad, Doug and Drew Bourre and Gary Tolen.
