Drama class to hold free play Friday
By Ashley Sharp
RRHS Student
The first week back to school was a busy one at the high school with several home games being played.
The Owl’s court sports played the Ignace Falcons on Tuesday and the Sioux Lookout Warriors on Wednesday. The Junior and Senior Girls and the Junior boys beat the Falcons, while the rest of the games where hard fought against incredibly skilled teams.
In hockey this week the Lake of the Woods Bears Girls faced off against the Fort Frances Muskies in Rainy River. Fort Frances came out victorious with a score of 3 to 2 with Brenely Anderson scoring one of the goals for the L.O.W. Bears. It was an exciting and physical game. It was great to see all the fans in the stands and hope to see everyone out again when they play the Kenora on the 20th here in Rainy River at 11:00.
The boys’ hockey team had two games this week: they played South Park Rapids on Tuesday loosing 4 to 2 in a tough game, Friday they played in Minneapolis (scores not available at press time).
Coming up in Owls’ Sports on The Girls’ Hockey team will be playing International Falls in the Baudette Arena on Tuesday, January 16th and the Boys’ Hockey team will be playing International Falls as well but in the Falls. Good Luck everyone. Remember to come out and cheer on your favourite athletes.
The Grade 10 Drama class is putting on a play on January 19th called Skin by Canadian playwright Dennis Foon. The play is about the experiences of 3 immigrant students coming to Canada for school. They have been working very hard and it promises to be a great show. It is free to public and will be on at 2 and 5:30 PM. Everyone is welcome.
The Quilt is being started this week. Thank you to everyone who has bought a square and if anyone still would like to purchase one please contact Dayna Seguin at the high school, 852-3284. Come in and checkout our array of Owls’ merchandise and the new logo.
The merchandise is available anytime during home games, just go to the Owls’ Nest. The Athletic committee is now half way to there goal of raising money to buy the Senior Boys new volleyball uniforms and are in the process of designing them. Thank you to Claudette (Baby Sue) Scott and Ann Michl for their help this week.
