Lack of snow keeps trails closed

By Brian Russell WLS As of this writing (Jan. 19) NONE of the Wildlands Snowdusters snowmobile trails are open. Of note the River-Lake trail is staked from Stratton to Kreger Road. As of this time NO grooming has been done due to a total lack of snow - some trail reroutes are also pending culvert installations. On another note the WSSC is holding a driver training course for anyone 12 years old and older on Saturday, Feb. 3rd. Regards to the CN Hotel for class room space, Gillons’ Insurance for sponsoring lunch & Rich Socholotuk trainer extraordinaire. As per radio announcements the OPP will be checking all OFSC snowmobile trails in the Rainy River District this year. Ensure you have your drivers license, insurance, registration & OFSC/MTO trail permit in place. When the snow comes and the club gets the trails groomed please obey all rules of snowmobiling, respect private property and stay on trail, especially around farmers fields.
