Myrtle McKinnon

On Sunday, February 3, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer, Myrtle McKinnon passed away at the Grace General Hospital at the age of 96 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Jean Himour of Swift Current, Adele (Ed) Mitchler of Winnipeg, Merle (Murray) Davidson of Vernon and daughter-in-law Florence McKinnon of Victoria, seven grandchildren, Andrew, Tara, Sheryl (Dave), Pam, Bradley, Darren (Tanya), and Kim, four great grandchildren, Lacey, Tyler, Larissa and Emma, two sisters, Thelma Johnson of High Level, AB and Hilda (Ken) Hoffman of Fort Frances, brothers-in-law Garfield (Jan) Mckinnon, Pete, Rainie (Alyce) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Nelson McKinnon, son Kelvin McKinnon, sons-in-law Ab Himour, Nestor Popowniak, brothers-in-law John Johnson and Donald McKinnon, sister-in-law Evelyn and Peggy, and parents Knute and Johanna Svenson.
Myrtle was born and raised in Bergland, Ontario. She married Nelson in 1934 in Russell, MB. They farmed and raised 4 children in Bergland. She was an avid gardener, was leader of the 4-H club and was secretary of the L.C.W. at Trinity Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday school for many years.
Myrtle was a kind, sensitive and private person who put the needs of others before herself. Myrtle will be sadly missed by her family and all of her friends.
Our family wishes to extend special thanks to a wonderful neighbour Asta Westberg for her many years of kindness and friendship.
Funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 6 at St. James Lutheran Church with Pastor Rod Buck officiating.
