Lots of changes

Welcome back everyone! It’s been a long time, as you all know, second semester has started and that is why there has not been an article in the paper for some time. We took a break to study for exams but now we are back. There has been a lot happening during the absence and seasons are now coming to an end and others are beginning.
At the Baudette arena Saturday, February 10th , seniors night was held at the Lake of the Woods Boys game. This game was the last of the season, and the boys and parents from Rainy River that were honored at the game were, Kam Kuzyk, Vince Scott and Andy Moen. They are going to be missed on that hockey team. The boys JV and Varsity both beat Hallock last week as well. They will be playing in Duluth this weekend. In girls’ hockey this past week, the Lake of the Woods Girls lost out to Roseau in the playoffs ending their season, this game was held in Roseau. It was an extremely well played game. Also Brenley Anderson and Seneca Brown made the Ice Dogs Hockey team, which is a double A team that travels all summer. Good job teams and good luck this summer girls!
The curling teams are headed to the NorWossa Championship Bonspiel in Kenora on February 19 and 20. Good job curlers!
This past week in court sports the Rainy River Owls headed off to Atikokan on Wednesday, February 14. For the last games of the season.
Badminton tryouts started this past Monday, with a good turn out. Also last Thursday was the Valentines Day dance at Rainy River High School from 7:00pm until 10:00pm. Everyone who attended said that they had lots of fun, and that it was very well decorated. The play 1001 Arabian Nights, practices have begun. It is looking to be an amazing play. Also this past week the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams have had their meetings to get ready for the season. And last but not least the Rainy River High School Sports Committee is getting ready to order new boys volley-ball jerseys.
