Legion ladies help kids swim
By Gladys Yeo
Legion Ladies Aux.
The local branch of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary held its general meeting on February 14th with president Hazel Tullet presiding.
Secretary Terri Yeo read the minutes of the January meeting. Accounts were presented and authorized for payment. Treasurer Donna Ivall gave an account of the auxilliary’s finances. Correspondence was read and dealt with as required.
A thank you card was read from Deer Lodge Hospital for our donation. Also cards from members who have been ill. A letter was read from the legion Athletic Camp asking for volunteer chaperones in the coming summer. Anyone wishing to volunteer may contact the Legion. A request from Riverview School to help with financing the swim lessons program was read. It was decided to donate $200.00 to this program. Dr. Singleton was a guest speaker at the meeting, regarding buying new equipment for the exercise room at the hospital. Anyone can join this program and improve their health by doing so.
A motion passed to donate $1000.00 towards buying the equipment. The Legion Ladies will be doing Meals on Wheels for the month of April.
It was noted that several ladies volunteered their time to cleaning the hall kitchen and storage rooms. Everything is shining and in tip top shape. A supper is planned at the Legion Hall for March 24th.
A reminder to the good folks of our little town. The Legion and Ladies Auxilliary work very hard to make money to donate to many things, including children’s programs, all sporting events, the hospital, etc. Please remember this and attend functions, such as suppers etc to keep this generosity flowing.
