Almer Godin wins Morson fish derby

Despite the snowstorm Saturday, the Morson fishing derby still managed to grow by about 10% this year.
119 anglers registered, braved the weather and caught some nice fish.
Top Walleye prize was won by Almer Godin of Rainy River. He weighed in a 7.10 lb. fish and won $200.
Rounding out the walleye class was:
2nd-Zack Hapka of Warren, MN. with a 4.26 lbs. fish. He won $150.
3rd-Terry Ross and Rudy Sinninghe tied with 4.20 lbs. They each received $75.
Top Northern Pike prize went to Pat Gibbins, Jr. of Morson. He caught a 7.74 lb. fish and won $150.
2nd-Reuben Gibbins of Morson won $100 for his 7.48 lb. fish.
3rd-John Alexander won $75 for his 1.56 lb. fish.
Hidden Weight went to Bob Miller and Reuben Gibbins who tied at .74lbs. Their tiny walleyes earned them each an electric fillet knife.
Most Perch was three. Reuben Gibbins caught that and won a lazer level.
There were 128 walleye caught, 8 perch and 3 northerns.
In Cribbage it was Eileen Zajac and Maryanne McCormack winning with a score of 867. They received $30 for first prize.
In 2nd it was Lloyd Moen and Thelma Fadden with 854. They received $10.
In 3rd it was Kathy and Patsy Moen with 828. They received two gift certificates. Patsy also had the high hand of the day with 24. She won $20 for that.
Winning the Morson Fish Derby Raffle was as follows:
1st prize-Ice Auger-Tom Irvine
2nd-Crock Pot/BBQ pit-Ray Copenace
3rd-Afgan-Val Pizey
Event organizer Sheila Gate was very pleased with the turnout, especially given the weather.
