Gaylords leave huge donation to Riverside
News Release
Riverside Foundation
Larry Cousineau, Chairman of Riverside Foundation for Health Care announced today the establishment of the Albert & Myrtle Gaylord Endowment Fund.
“We received a very thoughtful and generous gift of one hundred thousand dollars from the Estate of Myrtle Gaylord, who was a long-time resident of Fort Frances”, explained Cousineau.
“By creating an endowment fund with this large amount of money, it becomes a gift that keeps on giving and provides a lasting legacy to the Gaylord’s”, he added.
Endowment funds allow the Foundation to invest the principal amount ($100,000). The income derived each year from the investment amount is used to support hospital needs. In this case, the needs of the Day Program and Dialysis Unit.
“Although Mrs. Gaylord did not stipulate where the funds were to be used, we know she was a long-time user of the Day Program and her late husband was on Dialysis prior to his passing.
“It is for these reasons that these two programs were selected to benefit from this gift”, explained Teresa Hazel, Foundation Director.
This substantial gift shows how valuable health care is to residents of the community.
“By naming the Foundation in their last will and testament, Mr. & Mrs. Gaylord have clearly demonstrated their commitment to both health care and to our community”, noted Hazel.
“This gift is also a tribute to Riverside staff and volunteers who work so hard each and every day to provide excellent health care”.
The Albert & Myrtle Gaylord Endowment Fund will be recognized on the Donor Wall at La Verendrye Hospital in the BENEFACTOR category, which recognizes gifts of $100,000 and over.
