There is even more good news on the passport application front. The Ministry of Northern Development and Mines (Services Ontario) office is also accepting completed passport applications.
MNDM Officer Sheri Pirkl told the Record Monday, “We offer prescreening services and will purolate the completed applications to the Thunder Bay passport office for processing.”
While applicants will still have to send away some of their identification Pirkl said that because the apps. are sent by courier they can track them. “We can also help expedite the process when required.”
She said that by having a place available locally people do not have to travel. “This is especially good for people who can’t travel to Fort Frances or farther.”
Pirkl said that people can get their photos done at RadioShack in Baudette, complete their passport application and bring it into her office. If anything more is needed from an applicant the passport office will call the applicant directly and they can bring it into MNDM who will then purolate that information to Thunder Bay.
The MNDM office is located in the building behind the Road Runner Motel and just west of Beaver Mills Market. Their phone number is 807-852-3287.
