4H Horse Club News: Chelsey Brown elected president

On March 21, 2007 the 4-H  Horse and Pony Club held it’s inaugural meeting at S.C.A.P school at 6:30 p.m.
Members recited the 4-H pledge and reviewed the and looked over the rules and regulations and handouts of 4-H. The group then elected Club Officers. Chelsey Brown was elected president, Jackie Wittich as Vice President, Courtney Peters as Secretary, Drew Macdonald as Treasurer, Saragh Fraser as Press Reporter and general membership is Jolene Storm and Sabrina Rempel. Leaders are Shari Reynolds and Jeff Fraser. The meeting was adjourned by Chelsey and ended at 8:00 p.m.
 On March 28, 2007 the 4-H Horse and Pony Club held its second meeting at S.C.A.P school at 6:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order by the president, Chelsey Brown. At that time everyone recited the 4-H pledge. There were two new members present and introduced; Emily Fraser and Kennedy Williams. The club then voted on the activities they were going to conduct for the next 5 meetings. The club went over general information about the horse including distinguishing characteristics, temperament and the anatomy and physiology of the horse. The choices for our Achievement Day were decided on and the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
 On April 4, 2007 the 4-H horse and pony club met at president Chelsey Brown’s home. The membership voted on the club name and chose “Stratton Saddles.” Then club leader Shari Reynolds’s went over General Health of the Horse. This included vital sign assessment, appearance and deportment of the horse. After all was explained, the club membership went to the barn and practiced assessment skills. This gave us each an opportunity to review basic health by taking the horses’ temperature, heart rate, and respiration, as well as assessing digestive status. After refreshments provided by Mr. and Mrs. Brown, the meeting was adjourned by president Chelsey Brown at 8:45.
