By Gladys Yeo
Legion Auxiliary

The local branch of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on April 11th, with president Hazel Tullet presiding. There were 16 members in attendance. There were no applications for membership and no initiations.
Secretary Terri Yeo read the minutes of the March monthly meeting. These were accepted as read. All accounts were presented and authorized for payment. Treasurer Donna Ivall gave her report on finances. A thank you is in order for the ladies doing cribbage night and the meat draws.
Correspondence was read and dealt with as required. Donations were approved for the Canadian Cancer Society and the Scholarships Foundation. The Provincial Convention will be held in Winnipeg on June 17 to 20th. It was decided that four members will attend this convention.
New business concerning catering was discussed. A Mothers Day Brunch will be held on May 13th.
Members gave a report on the District meeting held in Atikokan on March 31st weekend. They reported it was very informative and again Valerie Nelson won a prize for best costume.
The Auxiliary is planning to send care packages to soldiers in Afghanistan. Marlene gave a report on a list of items that may be sent. Posters will be put up around town with this list. If anyone wishes to donate items for these packages, it will be much appreciated. Personal care items, reading material etc. and of course Kraft dinner and beef jerky, will be some of the items needed. We have two local boys serving there. After a discussion on this subject the meeting was adjourned.
