This Saturday the Alzheimer’s Society will hold its 5th annual Walk for Memories in Rainy River.
Last year nine participants raised a staggering $1,776.05 all of which is used to support local Alzheimers support programs and research.
Executive Director for the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Society, Margaret Schoneville, said she is looking forward to this year’s walk and hopes there will be even more people out this year.
Pledge forms are available at the Rainy River Record, Legion and various other locations in the community. Schoneville said people can pledge right up until the ninth hour and that all donations small or large are welcome.
The walk will begin at the RR Legion Parking lot at 10:30 a.m. and follow a route around town. Refreshments will be available afterwards and all participants handing in a pledge sheet will receive a t-shirt.
The top money raiser will also win a free night’s stay at the Holiday Inn Airport West in Winnipeg.
Schoneville also will be bringing the scale to weigh any pennies people wish to donate. She did not run that fundraiser in Rainy River last year but in other communities raised $2,000 in total last year.
