CT scanner implementation delayed until Fall

While the money has been raised the CT scanner has yet to be ordered by Riverside Health Care Facilities.
Teresa Hazel, Riverside Foundation Director, told the Record in an email Friday that, “We are still waiting for Ministry of Health approval to go to Tender. I think the process stalled a bit with the LHIN’s taking over funding of district hospitals.”
When the fundraising drive began last fall it was hoped that the scanner would be ordered and installed by this spring. Hazel said that Riverside CEO has indicated that he anticipates the scanner will be in Fort Frances and operational by the Fall.
“In the meantime, our Diagnostic Imaging staff have began the courses required to be certified to operate CT scanners. Also, the tender documents are ready to go,” said Hazel.
