Spa night at Shutterbug’s place

The Les Rouge Rogues have been very active since last March when we last reported in. On March 27th, we held a Spa Night at Countess Shutterbug’s, (Lou Ricci’s), complete with goodies and treats. It was a fun time of pampering and comedy. Lady Trillium, (Donna Moen) performed her Mary Kay magic on our hands while a red hat comedian lifted our spirits. Lady La Ti Da (Dawn Jarvis) did a delightful reading on how Not to wear your summer sandals! Door prizes were drawn and spa gifts given to each lady in attendence.
In April, Oak Grove Camp was the site of our Mad Hatter Tea Party with Alice in Wonderland Theme. Lady Linda of La Di Da (Linda Budreau) and Queen La Diva (Susan Douglas) were the hostesses of this gathering.The ladies were decked out as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, the March Hare, the Mad Hatter, the King and Queen of Hearts, Alice herself, the White Rabbit, Deck of Cards, and many more characters. A variety of tea pots and teas were available following a hilarious game of crochet around the story book theme. A delightful Alice trivia game and pot luck supper concluded the evening.
April 25th was officially Red Hat Day all around the world. We did a “gad about” with the Northern Loons of Baudette to celebrate. The red hatters participated with businesses on both sides of the border. We started with a Breakfast Hoot at the Ranch House, followed by a jewellery making Soiree & draw at Ben Franklin’s and lively lunch at the North Lake Cafe. The women enjoyed an afternoon serving up punch and desserts with the seniors in the ARC centre at Baudette Hospital and shopping on Main St.
On this side of the border Krisitine Brown distributed treats while introducing her new dollar store and a draw for the ladies was held along with Woods Quality Bakery where they ended with a cup of tea. Les Rouge Rogues enjoyed doing what they like best; laughing a lot, shopping and having fun.
Stillwater, Minnesota hosted our ladies for two nights and lots of shopping in May. While there the ladies ventured out on the St. Croix River Riverboat which included supper. Their days were filled with a personally guided tour by Trolley,walking the beautiful waterfront, swimming, and visiting the many Bed & Breakfasts and Spa. Three other red hat groups were also represented and it was fun to meet new friends.The ladies hope to make next year their 3rd annual trip.
Lady Eleanora, (Eleanor Wiersema) was hostess for the May Garden Party along with Dawn Jarivis and assistants. The Rogues were delighted with a comedy fashion show featuring all the latest garden accessories to wear. One example was the toilet roll hat with paper streaming down the model’s back. The models seemed to have as much fun as the ladies who were watching them! Dawn delighted us again with a couple readings followed with two mentally challenging games. The ladies concluded the afternoon with a Silent Auction of red hat items and a delicious pot luck meal.
The first Tues. of any month you will find a few Rogues gathered at noon at the local Roadside Restaurant displaying their regalia while having lunch.
June 26th is our Senior Prom Night at the home of Lady Round To It. Les Rouge Rogues will gather at 5:30 p.m. for the Grand March.There will be a light fare.For information please call Elsie Gerula at 852-4443. This event is free to members only.
July 24th will be our Hawaiian Luau at Sable Island. Cost is $10.00 for members.We’ll meet at Oak Grove Camp at 2 p.m. sharp to set sail! Please register at the Rainy River Record Office by July 13th. For information call Linda at 852-3702.
Ladies are reminded that we are renewing memberships for the coming year. We donate $20.00 each per year toward registration with the official Red Hat Society, the door prizes and party favours, decorations, gas, etc. Please pay Linda Budreau no later than Aug. 12th to ensure you remain on the calling list and in good standing.
