Fraser attends special training camp

News Release

Local athlete Saragh Fraser attended an elite training program with Olympian Carrie Tollefson. Tollefson, a 2004 women’s 1500 metre competitor, is currently training for the 2008 Olympics in Bejing. Fraser was accepted to the training camp and spent the week at the St. Paul, Minnesota campus of St Catherine’s College. In addition to 8 mile training runs, the participants were given instruction in technique, strategy and nutrition by Olympic coaches, physicians and athletes.
The group was featured on Minneapolis/St. Paul evening news as they trained on the grounds of Fort Snelling. The athletes got a taste of Olympic training camp life, living in dorms and working out early in the morning and through the heat of the day. Fraser says she loved the experience and is looking forward to more intensive training at future camps throughout the summer. Blisters and sore muscles aside, she says the experience was something that she will never forget.
