RR Council awards two tenders

It was a fairly uneventful gathering that almost did not happen when Rainy River Town Council had their regular monthly meeting Monday evening.
With Mayor Deb Ewald away for medical reasons and acting Mayor Gerry Marchuk at a meeting in Kenora Monday, all the rest of council had to be in attendance to have a quorum.
However, as the clock chimed 7 bells, only Councillors Marilyn McAlister and Brent Anderson were present. By law they have to wait until 7:30 p.m. to see if they can form a quorum and at 7:12 p.m. Councillor Gord Armstrong arrived.
Armstrong was appointed by motion of council to chair the meeting in absence of the aforementioned leaders.
The meeting went quickly with all the general business being completed by 7:37 p.m. when council went in camera to discuss legal matters pertaining to the law suit levied by the former clerk Deb Bowman.
In regular session council passed two tenders.
The first saw them award the tender to remove wood at the new sewer lagoon site to Armor Construction and Doug Hartnell in the amount of $6,300 cash value to the town, $4,100 in costs for clearing and $3,900 in costs for grubbing.
The second tender was the sale of the old snow plow truck to Paul Brown Trucking in the amount of $4,001.
Other business
•Council wrote off the sewer and water account of a deceased customer in the amount of $89.24.
•Council authorized paying the cost ($323.30) for Admin. Assist. Corey Dyck to take some training.
