It is up to us to make it happen
It is one thing to complain about something but it is another to actually volunteer to do something about it.
In the Record’s weekly poll two weeks ago 62% of respondents said they would like to see both Canada Day and Railroad Daze events in Rainy River.
Last week 71% of them were either disappointed or very disappointed there was no Canada Day festivities in Rainy River this year.
Obviously people would like to have a party that day, but unless someone steps up and volunteers to make it happen the same thing as this year will happen next year–nothing.
The Rainy River Recreation Board is attempting to revive Railroad Daze this year and it appears that they are well on their way to doing just that. Hopefully they will be able to find many volunteers to help run their events or else the few that have already done so will be quickly burned out.
It is our community and if we want something more than the peace and tranquility of such a wonderful town we all need to help out.
