Army of volunteers repaint McInnes Creek Chapel

“There will be mosquitoes and flies”, I cried as Mark sped along the dusty road toward McInnes Chapel. “You’ll be fine” he replied reassuringly. “But I’m a city girl”; I softly whimpered slouching down in the front seat.
It was a beautiful hot day in July (6th) and as we cruised up to the Chapel. There were all the early keeners lined up like little soldiers with their paintbrushes in hand. With undaunting spirits the baker’s dozen, under the direction of Commander in Chief, Bob Locking, dispersed. The sunshine, breeze and camaraderie forced the mosquitoes to retreat without a feast.
With various colour palettes in hand we repainted the fence, Chapel, washrooms and gates. It was soon time to regroup the troops for a potluck lunch.
Being “fed up” we returned to our posts, to complete the task at hand and win the battle. After many gallons of paint the war was won!
Thanks to everyone who participated in a fun work day!
Our next meeting will be July 29th, 2 p.m., at McInnes Chapel. Our annual BBQ Pork Roast Supper is set for Sat. Sept. 1st from 3-6 p.m. A freewill donation will be accepted.
