The weather was perfect for the 32nd Rainy River Open Golf Tournament held on Aug. 5, 2007 at Oak Harbor Golf Course in Baudette.
45 golfers, 38 men and seven women took to the course in a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. for two rounds of nine holes.
At the end of the day it was Glenn Crackel who won the Men’s Championship Flite scoring 77 on 18 holes. This was Crackel’s 6th time winning the title, the most anyone has ever won it. Following him in 2nd and 3rd spots were Danny Armstrong, 82, and Brendan Nordberg, 87.
The top lady of the day was Jean Bernst with 94. 2nd and 3rd went to Angie Armstrong, 97, and Carla Armstrong, 105.
The top youth was A.J. Pirkl with 103. There was a tie for 2nd with Matt Johnson and Tyler Peterson both scoring 106.
In the Men’s 1st Flite it was James Jarvis winning with 83. In 2nd it was Kam Kuzyk with 85. There was a three way tie for 3rd with Jim Crackel, Ryan Lamoureux and Tim Nordin scoring 89.
In the Men’s 2nd Flite it was Tim Marmus winning with 89. Reed Armstrong, 92, and Dennis Kuzyk, 93, finished 2nd and 3rd.
In the Men’s 3rd Flite it was Don Ricci winning with 96. Glen Armstrong was 2nd with 98 and Marty Kreger was 3rd with 104.
Organizers were very pleased with the turnout considering the tournament had not been run since 2004. “We look forward to next year and hope for even bigger things,” said Bob McGreevy.
