Charges laid in Emo drug investigation

(Fort Frances, Ontario) An Emo resident faces numerous drug and firearm related charges as a result of a search warrant executed on the 21st of September. Members of the Fort Frances OPP assisted by the Tri Force Drug Unit, North West Region Emergency Response Team and the North West Region Crime Unit attended an Aylsworth Road residence at 9 am and executed the warrant.
As a result of the warrant over 600 marijuana plants were seized,over 3lbs of processed marihuana and several firearms.
Bruce Shaw age 51 of Alysworth Rd was subsequently arrested and charged with the following offences; 3 counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, 1 count of careless use of a firearm, I count of production of marihuana and 1 count of possession of marihuana for the purpose of trafficking. Shaw was released from police custody on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Fort Frances court on the 26th of November.
In a continuing effort to reduce drinking and driving; members of the Fort Frances OPP conducted a RIDE program on Hwy #71 on the 21st of September. As a result over 175 vehicles were checked and a large amount of alcohol was seized and 15 Liquor License Act charges laid. This RIDE was conducted to help ensure the safety of our youth who were attending the annual Home Coming Party. It is against the law to operate a motor vehicle with liquor readily available. It is also against the law for anyone under the age of 19 to possess alcohol.

The OPP would like to remind everyone that tampering with electoral signs is an offence.
